Dual Language Immersion
Highland Park Middle School is proud to continue Saint Paul Public Schools’ Dual Language Immersion (DLI) pathway at the secondary level in grades 6-8 for both our Spanish and Chinese programs. Our immersion program is a natural fit to the vision and goals of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (MYP). Through the MYP program, Highland Middle serves as the academic bridge between early learning, success during adolescence and productive global citizenship. Over half of our student body at HPMS participates in either our Spanish or Chinese DLI program.
Our middle school DLI program builds upon the strong foundation established in elementary school, ensuring that students continue to grow their language skills while also engaging in rigorous academic coursework in both English and the partner language (Spanish or Chinese). We're committed to helping students grow into bilingual, biliterate, and culturally competent global citizens, ready to thrive in an interconnected world.
