Andrew Bacskai
Hello, I’m Andrew Bacskai (it’s a somewhat baffling Hungarian surname pronounced “Bass-sky”). I'm a sixth-grade Writer's Workshop teacher here at Highland Park Middle School, and I couldn't be happier to report that I'm back for my 16th year. My wife and I live here in Highland Park; our two children both attended Highland Middle and Senior High before moving on to college and, now, life and work in Washington, D.C. I love that I have the privilege of being able to help make a positive contribution to the community in which I live.
As for my background, I grew up in southeastern Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a B.A. in journalism. I worked as a writer and editor for various newspapers, magazines and marketing agencies for roughly 15 years before I decided to pursue my Master's in teaching.
As a teacher, my goal is not only to help young people become competent readers and writers, but competent, compassionate people. Stop by room 2401 for a visit any time, or don’t hesitate to use the contact information listed on this page.
I send daily classwork and homework updates in Schoology; make sure to turn on your notifications!
