Monroe, Katie
Katie Monroe
Katie is Highland Park Middle School’s general education school social worker. She is entering her 3rd year at Highland Middle and her 17th year as a school social worker. She grew up in the Twin Cities, got her Bachelor’s in Communication from Northwestern University, and received her Master’s of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
She has had the privilege of working in a variety of school settings throughout the country, including Chicago and Boston, and she has worked exclusively with middle schoolers for the last 12 years.
Katie provides individual and group counseling support to students at Highland Middle, and her work includes, but is not limited to, supporting students with friendship skills, relationship conflicts, anxiety, depression, anger, and crisis management. Please reach out to her or your child’s grade level counselor if you are interested in connecting more with her.
When she is not working, she enjoys biking, taking walks with her dog, and spending time with her two elementary school aged children and her spouse (who works in a middle school, too!).
